While the M and L formats of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon 2025 have been fully booked since January, there’s still a way to take part in the race: become a Game Changer by wearing a solidarity number that supports the NGO Aviation Sans Frontières. It’s a different kind of bib that gives meaning to the competition and provides intense emotions.
Created in 2024, the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon solidarity race number offers much more than just a good deed. This bib not only allows you to support the NGO Aviation Sans Frontières, which accompanies children with serious pathologies to European hospitals, but also to live a special experience: becoming a Game Changer. The Game Changers at the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon form a team of happy few wearing a multicoloured bib and defending humanist values by running the triathlon. “The bib was so cool that my sister, who was taking part in the triathlon with a classic entry, was jealous,” laughs Jérôme Tirard-Gatel, Game Changer en 2024. “Wearing a different bib, knowing that I’d raised money for a charitable cause, was very motivating.”
Rallying people around humanitarian action
For Jérôme, as for other Game Changers, the solidarity bib was also a way of getting their ticket for an event that had already been sold out for weeks. “The amount I wanted to raise seemed within reach if I could get my family, friends and work colleagues on board,” continues Jérôme. “It made all the more sense for me to run with this number as my mum, who died of cancer two years ago, was a great supporter of associations and a volunteer with charities. She would have been delighted with this bib.” By canvassing his network and communicating on social networks, Jérôme easily managed to raise funds. And if the digital world hadn’t been enough, the native of Isère wouldn’t have hesitated to take more concrete action, “even if it meant selling cakes in my village!”
Sharing and friendship
During the event, the Game Changers come together for a moment of sharing and conviviality. They meet Aviation Sans Frontières staff and talk to them about the NGO’s work and their own sporting experiences. “I’ve had some great moments of sharing thanks to this bib,” confirms Jérôme, who is enthusiastic and says he wants to repeat the adventure. While Game Changers by definition support the NGO partner of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, other participants can also play the game by making a donation when they register. A small gesture for the triathlete, but a big step towards healing for sick children around the world!
How do I become a Game Changer ?
- Step 1: create your profile on the Aviation Sans Frontières fundraising platform.
- Step 2: mobilise your community to raise the necessary funds, i.e. €500 for the M Triathlon, €900 for the L Triathlon and €200 for the Duathlon. All the money will then be donated to the NGO. If you can and wish, you can raise more money to help Aviation Sans Frontières even more.
- Step 3: When all the money has been raised, your registration is validated. Please note that your race number will not be confirmed until you have reached the minimum amount in the kitty.
