And what if it was the big innovation of the year for the participants of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon? The organisation has finally found THE ideal solution to help triathletes in their preparation: KINOMAP becomes the official partner of the event. All the courses of the duathlon and the Triathlons L and M will soon be available on the indoor training application, an exceptional option to familiarize oneself with the different circuits, in an ultra-realistic way.
While virtual cycling is undergoing a real revolution, not only because of the context, the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon organisation has until now been reluctant to offer simulations or to create alternative online events, even in the midst of a health crisis. With KINOMAP, there is no room for doubt: “Kinomap’s strength, with the use of real images of the courses, and the precision of the application in reproducing the effort to be delivered, completely meets our needs. On the one hand, for the first time, we will be able to give participants a tool that is as fun as it is efficient to describe our routes. On the other hand, we are highlighting the Oisans region by respecting certain emblematic sectors such as the 21 bends climb. Only the Kinomap application allows us to do this”, explains Nicolas Beck, in charge of marketing for the event. The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon and Kinomap teams are currently working on the bike and run courses, which will be available online in the coming weeks.
To introduce Kinomap and its different functions for the Alpe d’Huez triathletes, Romain Gioux, Content & Race Leader, himself a triathlete (he finished the Triathlon M 2021 at the 69th place), testifies and answers our questions.
To put it simply, let’s say it’s the largest platform for sharing geo-located videos, which today gathers thousands of videos of routes all over the world. The athlete can therefore connect his or her home trainer to the application and set off to discover a trail on the other side of the world, or the Alpe d’Huez 21 bends for example. Resistance and slope are automatically applied according to the profile of the course.
Of course, the event’s reputation is based on the demanding nature of its courses, both on the bike and on foot. For the first time, triathletes will be able to recognize every single meter of each circuit, but also test their difficulty. This is a considerable advantage that can change everything on the D-day. In addition, the application also offers a structured training mode and coaching sessions to tackle any type of goal.
Yes, Kinomap is meant to be fun and is defined as a sharing platform. You can meet other users during LIVE sessions, either to race or to exchange during a training session. Apart from a dialogue window, all the data needed during the effort appears on the screen (such as elapsed time, distance, power, etc.). The notions of pleasure and ease remain central.
For a total experience, the ideal equipment is a connected home trainer, a treadmill or a smart bike, although users with a non-connected home trainer can discover the application and its courses using a speed/cadence sensor or the optical sensor of their phone or tablet.
