For the running gear, triathletes have 2 options.
The running gear can be dropped off (using the numbered bag given by the organization):

Personal items can be left with the volunteers at the entrance of the T1 Park – Lac du Verney before the start, in the triathlete’s correctly labelled and personal backpack (sticker to be fixed on the handle or the rope), and are brought back to Alpe d’Huez during the race (plastic bags are not allowed).

Our official partner Overstim.s offers you a selection of specific sports nutrition products to accompany you during your challenge.
You will also find a wide choice of solid and liquid foods throughout the race.
The drinks during the cycling section are provided in 500ml bottles.
The drinks during the running section are provided in cups.

Nutrition in a race is all about strategy. Prepare a plan depending on what you need, your experience and your goals, so that nothing is left to chance during the race, and your body gets the fuel it needs at the right time.
Hydration is a key factor in your performance in an event where it is often very hot. Remember to drink small amounts on a regular basis, and to choose drinks that will compensate the loss of mineral salts.
If you need to, stop at the aid stations. It’s better to spend a minute to eat properly than to eat badly and miss the opportunity to recover some energy. In addition, the volunteers will be there to give you a boost!

If you are coming down by car, please go through Bourg d’Oisans. Plan on 45 minutes from Alpe d’Huez, and take into account the parking restrictions around the Lac du Verney.

It is forbidden to swim in the Lac du Verney outside the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon events.

the temperature of the Lac du Verney is usually between 15 and 18 degrees. If you are afraid of the cold, don’t hesitate to use heating oil, but also a second cap (under the official cap). Get the bloody pumping and warm up before you get in the water.
Be realistic. If swimming is not your favourite discipline, take advantage of the rolling start and position yourself in the ‘easy’ lock to avoid the pressure of more experienced swimmers.
Make the most of it! To help you get used to the water temperature as much as possible and get your body moving, the warm-up zone is easily accessible, directly from the transition park.
The cycling part of the event takes place on open roads. You must respect the traffic rules in all circumstances.
The road between T1 and the exit of Allemond will be closed in both directions from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
The road from Alpe d’Huez to Bourg d’Oisans will be closed to downhill traffic (opposite to the race direction) from 2:15 pm to 5:00 pm.
Drafting (taking advantage of the slipstream of other competitors) is not allowed on the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon events. Each triathlete must be at least 12 meters behind the competitor in front of them. The Watchers are strict on this, and will intervene as soon as the distances between competitors are not respected.
Participants MUST respect the natural environment, both during the race and in the transition parks. Clean-up zones are clearly marked at the aid stations, where participants can throw their rubbish.
Any athlete caught throwing waste out of the zone will be disqualified by the Watchers if they do not correct their behavoiur.
All external assistance is forbidden during the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon events. Only volunteers and the organisation are allowed to provide participants with food and drink.
Furthermore, supporters are not allowed to follow an athlete with their vehicle: the athlete risks inmediate exclusion from the race.
is the absolute priority on the bike. Do not take any unnecessary risks that could endanger your life or the lives of others. Stay to the right, never cross the center line and stay focused.
the ascent of the 21 bends of Alpe d’Huez requires patience and control. The first section until the aid station of La Garde is very difficult. Pace yourself in order to conserve your energy for the rest of the climb.
remember that you are participating in a mountain event. The roads are difficult to access and the set up of the race is difficult. Encourage your supporters to follow your journey with the timing platform. Be respectful of other participants to maintain the quality of the race for everyone… and avoid direct disqualification if a referee catches you.

IMPORTANT:
Whatever the category, pro or amateur, the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is the moment of truth. It is the moment to show your mental strength. Stay positive, even in the worst moments, and don’t hesitate to talk to the volunteers to boost your motivation (they’re good at this).
Don’t miss this opportunity to check out the new running route. Meet at the Overstim.s stand at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the official start of the recon. The Overstim.s team and organisation will show you around the loop at a jogging pace.
If you have the chance, plan a few training sessions at altitude before the race, in order to acclimatize your body. Running on race day will be much more comfortable.

The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is an independent event and is not affiliated with the French Triathlon Federation. The refereeing is done by a specific team within the organization: the “Watchers”.
The triathlete corrects their behaviour and continues the race, or is subject to a red card.
The triathlete continues their race once they’ve been notified of the penalty, and makes their “stop&go” stop of 2 min in the penalty box before starting the run.
The triathlete stops or joins the next transition, after having given his/her number to the Watcher.

The Penalty Box is a tent located at the exit of transition 2 in the bike park. It is up to the triathlete to present themselves at the penalty box to make their “stop & go”.
How to follow the race closely? Give your supporter the right info!
The organization is putting on a LIVE broadcast of the Triathlon M, applying the same system as for the L Triathlon. With the growing number of participants in the event, access to the Lac du Verney for friends and family is becoming increasingly difficult. It is almost impossible to get back to the resort in time once the start is given. For the public of the Triathlon M, supporting at the start makes no sense. We encourage supporters to stay in Alpe d’Huez and take advantage of the streaming in place + the FAN ZONE! Thank you for helping us to preserve the quality of the race. Thank you for your help.
All the results of the week, real-time rankings during competitions, all in one place. Visit our results page.
Two areas dedicated to the public, on the 21-turn climb (FAN ZONE OVERSTIM.S) and on the running course (FAN ZONE RUN), with free access by cable car from the finish area!

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE FINISHERS!
