THE CLIMB Alpe d’Huez: your new appointment with the legend

On June 18th, the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon team invites you to experience an unexpected challenge, an event where competition is a pretext for the collective adventure that cycling, the mountains and the vital need to be together offer us. 15km of popular and individual time-trial in the 21 bends to find yourself all with friends at the summit in a fiery atmosphere: your summer is off to a great start with THE CLIMB Alpe d’Huez.

An original concept around a classic

It needs no introduction. The Alpe d’Huez climb with its 21 bends is a monument to cycling, a temple and a place of pilgrimage in the imagination of many cycling enthusiasts. What if we revisited this classic? What if we invented a cycling event for everyone, inspired by an already living legend? THE CLIMB Alpe d’Huez aims to explore this route, while taking advantage of the opening weekend of the summer season in the resort. Starting in Bourg d’Oisans, the participants will set off one by one to tackle the famous laces, in a time trial. Three intermediate timing points allow the evolution of the ranking to be followed live, online but also on the giant screens set up at the start and finish. This is when THE Climb Alpe d’Huez takes on its full dimension. At the summit, the race becomes “THE CLIMB After Party” as the finishers arrive. On the programme: prize-giving ceremony, video shows, raffles, food trucks and… music of course, with two DJ sets, one of which is performed by Jay Style.

An ideal preparation (mental and physical) for the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon

One month before the 16th edition of the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, THE CLIMB Alpe d’Huez appears to be the perfect opportunity for a full-scale test on the slopes of the myth, especially for triathletes who have never tried it before. This test can be very relevant and can drastically change your strategic approach on the D-day. Because although it is not the most difficult climb in the region, it is still demanding and challenging, with many changes of pace. What could be better than a time trial, in race condition, to gain confidence or to realize the small adjustments still needed to face your Triathlon in the best conditions. Packages including registration and accommodation are already available to organise this general rehearsal.

Cycling connects us, each ascent of the 21 bends is a personal story that becomes plural once the summit is conquered.

A state of mind and values to defend

For the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon team and its marketing agency Youniti, THE CLIMB Alpe d’Huez was an obvious choice, bucking the trend and driven by an unwavering optimism. In a context that redefines social relationships (and too often impoverishes them), sport remains an essential vector of sharing and exchange. The group of friends, professionals and enthusiasts behind this unique event want to assert their attachment to a form of event that encourages the social interaction and solidarity of a community. Each cyclist writes his or her own story and fights against the 21 bends with their own reasons. And yet, at 1800 metres, at the end of the effort, all have in common the desire to surpass themselves, whatever their initial motivations. On 18 June, let us celebrate our differences and our common passion.
